The impact of monitoring and evaluation on volunteers

Monitoring and evaluation plays an important role in your activity cycle.  It can be seen a chore but if done well, it can be useful in many ways:

  1. Current and future funding requirements
  2. Service development
  3. Levels of satisfaction of stakeholders
  4. Allows people to have a voice and feel included

How you approach monitoring and evaluation will have an impact on the way volunteers engage with this area of work.

  1. Respondents
  2. Data Collection/Canvasser
  3. Data input

What we would like to achieve is for volunteers to have a positive relationship with M&E, rather than a negative outlook.

For the best outcomes and engagement it is important to be remian postive about your reasons for monitoring your services. This will be beneficial to both volunteers, service users and other stakeholders.
