Trustee board meeting in September 2018
Our latest trustee board meeting was held on 13 September 2018. The main business of the meeting was to agree the Statutory Annual Accounts for financial year 2017-18. John Thacker from our accountants and auditors Chariot House joined us to provide a verbal summary of his audit report and management letter. Trustees were pleased to hear that the auditors had no matters of concern to raise in respect of our finances. John went on to update the board on more general matters relating to financial governance in the voluntary sector and the board has agreed to review compliance with the Charity Code of Governance on an annual basis at the meeting following each AGM.
Charlotte John was confirmed as the new Vice Chair of the board and Sean Skinner was introduced as the newly appointed Central Services Manager. In his initial weeks with Community Works, Sean has been undertaking a review of all the organisation’s policies and procedures with a focus on ensuring compliance with GDPR.
Jayne Ross, our Routes Project Manager, also attended the meeting to update trustees on progress with this important partnership project. To date the project has supported 140 people, 17 having been moved in to work and 26 in to education, with a significant further number gaining qualifications. Whilst there have been some difficulties along the way, the project is now seen as one of the most successful in the country and there may be an opportunity to participate in a new project after the current one comes to an end in February 2019.
As usual, trustees also reviewed updates on our funding, current year finances, risk, and strategy and personnel situations.
