We are looking for volunteers for Brighton and Hove Carers Centre's Reablement Project, a project designed to support unpaid carers to learn new skills and achieve positive changes in their life.
The Volunteer Coordinator will match you with an unpaid carer, who is looking after a family member or friend, for you to support and encourage to learn a new skill. You will generally meet for an hour a week over a period of six to ten weeks to work towards the carers goal. The meetings take place in the carers' home or in the local community.  Goals could be anything from supporting them to learn a musical instrument to teaching them computer skills or going for a jog with them. We have carers interested in learning how to do Cryptic Crosswords, learning the basics of the Spanish language, playing the guitar, taking photos and computer basics. You can choose what skills you would like to offer.
Enabling a carer to learn a new skill will also allow you to gain experience and develop your own skills.
You will receive out of pocket travel expenses, training and monthly group supervision.

Benefits of the Opportunity

Put your skills to use and make a lasting difference to someone's life

You will have a couple of hours a week free to meet with a carer one to one in their home or in the community.
