Read a funding bid
We connect businesses and professionals with charities and causes.
We help you to give your skills for free, by matching you with people that would benefit.
One way we do this is by matching you with charities and causes in Brighton, Hove, Adur or Worthing, who need help with a funding bid they’ve written.
You get to volunteer your time and share your skills around writing successful funding bids free of charge, and they get the professional help they need to ensure that their funding bids will win them the funding they need to run their services and activities.
The impact of our matches
In the last three years a number of professionals have given free professional advise and expertise to local charities and causes on their funding bids.
They, along with our staff, have helped 20 organisations to make 26 successful funding bids, which has brought in £1,816,328 for services, activities and projects in Sussex.
The support given has had a huge impact on the charities and causes who have benefited from their knowledge of what makes a successful funding bid.
Those that have benefited recently include:
- a community gardening project
- a young people’s charity
- an advice charity
- a neighbourhood project
Our bid-readers are Community Works staff and business skills volunteers who have sufficient insight into fundraising within the voluntary and community sector to understand funder expectations and the key elements of a strong funding bid. Within that, individuals may also have areas of strength or specialism and this will be taken into account when suggesting a match to a bid reader.
What will happen
We’ll have a conversation with you about how we can work together, and if your skills and expertise are needed by our members.
When we’re both ready, you’ll be asked to provide feedback to local charities and causes on their funding bids. You’ll be matched with a local charity or cause that specifically needs help to improve their funding bid. There’s no pressure to read any of the funding bids we offer you.
